DBZ Review
The more hardcore Anime viewers sometimes easily dismiss Dragon Ball Z, but in all the Anime's I've seen, DBZ rates fairly well. If you are able to get the uncut version, DBZ is tremendous, but when the cut out the fighting, cutting, and most of what master Roshi says, DBZ's score drops to about a 3. The graphics are great, well drawn and animated, most of the time (99% of the time) the animation is seamless.
The sound of the show is great too, with some exceptions (bulma), the voices fit the characters, Piccolo's voice is deep and angry, while, even though I hate to admit it, Bulma's voice is high pitched and bubbly, much like her personality. The fighting sound effects are pretty good, slaps when punches are blocked, and thuds when hits are landed, down to the ground crunching and the wind blowing, the sound is pretty good.
The story line is great, turns and twists in the plot (although some of it can get really predictable) and character development is evident. The creator (Akira Toriyama) obviously sat down and took a month to plan out the whole plot, hole shooting it. The basic idea is great, and your imagination can fill in the rest.
So what's left, the humor is pretty good, the lasting appeal is there, and the spin offs (DBGT) are pretty good as well, this Anime is pretty great (and the mouths even move to the words!). 9 out of 10.
